I successfully made my first fondant cake for a profit! I think that it turned out pretty passable and the "client" (that's fun to say, even though it was just for a friend's baby shower, a good friend who was willing to trust me with this :D) was extremely happy with the results, so at the end of the day, that's what matters...and who are we kidding, it feels pretty good to make some money off of what you love as well.
